If it's not too late in the development cycle I would find a way to 
accommodate 800x600 natively in the program.

Even as late as Oct. 2004, roughly a third of all active systems are 
running 800x600:

That percentage is said to be much higher in edu markets, where machines 
tend to be upgraded on a slower cycle.
