Bloated Standalone's

'Twas written:

"I was amazed that my "simple" movie player was 1.71MB's when I
converted it
to a Windows Standalone Application. Is it even possible to remove
un-needed code from it within Windows. I remember I could do this with
my
old HyperCard stacks. Usually I could get them down to about
600k-700k..."

I guess you have to remember that there is considerably more
functionality built into Revolution's runtime engine than there was in
HyperCard. When comparing Revolution to other current tools, also note
that, for instance, Visual Basic requires the installation of many
additional files (DLLs, etc.) in the Windows directory. This is in
addition to the principal EXE. I am under the impression (someone
please correct me if I'm wrong) that Revolution standalones are roughly
comparable in file size to those produced with RealBasic.
Besides, I have to admit that even here, where I have no DSL or cable
Internet access, the prospect of downloading an application of, say, 2
to 5 MB is not an issue.
