OS X only
Metal can be a problem.
Go to Ken Ray's most excellent Revilla - do a bug search with the word "metal"
and then think it over.

An alternative (not optimal) is to make a stack in OS X the the same 
size as or slightly
larger than the one you want metal on - screen shot the stack (with metal bg)
and then import into your real stack - send to back. Resizing the 
stack will present problems.
