I realize you are looking for high level colorizing and may well be 
aware of the low level color.  Just in case:

You can set the foregroundColor of a chunk of a field.  You can create 
html-like text and set the htmlText property of a field.

(Concerning parsing:  There is the token chunk, but I have not found it 
useful.  The regex functions might be handy.)
