how to detect stack needs to be saved

Checking the back scripts (from the Message Box - check "Show 
Revolution UI Back scripts"), in the button "revBackScript", there is  
handler called revSaveCheck which has the following line:
   if gREVStackStatus[pStack] is "edited" then

Whether this would work only in the IDE I can't tell, but you could 
test it anyway.
