Sound issues

Hello all,

I am doing a straight play command for an external sound file and am 
getting nothing but problems. I tried it first with an aiff file and 
then with an mp3 file of the same 3 meg sound file. All I get is 
garbled sounds instead of clean sound.

What am I doing wrong???????
