Do Proxies Interfere With Sockets? [RevNet?]

Geez, I really hope there's a way to make sockets work. I'd hate to redo
everything using HTTP and a webserver to sidestep the proxies & firewalls.
Sheesh

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I haven't checked it out too much but
has RevNet dealt with this issue or is it 100% HTTP?
