Thanks very much. After finding nothing under 'new' (I was trying to 
imitate the IDE's 'New Mainstack' menu item), I had looked up 'create' in 
the TD, but it said:

 >Use the create command to make a new control or grouped control.

no mention of stacks. Turns out there is **another** TD entry for 'create 
stack'. I think this is a minor bug in the docs, myself - but I suppose 
it's arguable.
