Can I draw a line (or better any polygon) directly on screen?

I don't see any objects connected. Do you mean the section divider widgets?
I think if you make a polygon, it will want to complete a polygon, i.e.,
close it. Then you'll have to get rid of the part you don't want. I think
you'd be better off drawing line segments. Just IMO.
