copying cards creates duplicate groups

I have a bunch of cards to copy from one stack to another. Each card 
has placed on it the same 3 groups. When I copy a card to another 
stack, the 3 groups are duplicated after each copy. Is there a way to do

copy card "card name" to stack "stack name"

and have the groups be created only if a group with the same name does 
not already exist?
