Beveling edges on things

Can¹t seem to find any docs on beveling the edges of objects to give a 3d
appearance.  Can¹t seem to get the object inspector¹s colors and patterns
section to show results when I select bevel edges.  I can change colours,
etc. in the same inspector.  Any hints?  Jim
