option-command (OS X) to edit object's script?

I have noticed that the shortcut to edit an object's script by pressing 
option-command while "hovering" over an object with the pointer often 
doesn't work.  Most often it seems to work a few times initially, but 
then stops working after Rev has been running for a while.  I have 
checked the preference, and it is as it should be.  Is there something 
I'm missing? This is a shortcut I find very useful.
