playStopped use

[trying to play successive movies in a single player]

Thank you, Jeanne and Troy.  I discovered that the problem was that I 
did not include:
set the currentTime of player "test" to 0

-after updating the filename of the player.
-And since I didn't SEE the 2nd movie play I did not realize that the 
filename of player "test" had been updated - and didn't realize that the 
player had indeed received the playStopped message.
