How do I add reference to externals?

Hi,

I could not figure out how "External tutorial.rev" added 
a reference to external named "external" without a full
path to the DLL on Windows platform.

It does not seem to work for me when I add a path
to my own DLL and calling a XFNT within it.

any ideas?
