Renaming issue

Just a little problem. I was trying to rename files based on the file's
contents, so I open the file, read the info needed to set the name, then
renamed the file. Except it wasn't working, and I didn't get any errors
reported. Then I twigged - Rev won't rename an open file. This is allowed on
MacOS, but not on other OSs I guess. I would have expected an error though?
