MOV and AVI embedded files in Linux standalones

What is also a nuisance is that documentation in RR/MC
is obscure about how to implement movies using the
geriatric xanim.

Re: Mac and Win the documentation is extremely clear and
helpful and sets out how to play embedded MOV files or
play externally referenced MOV files.

The documentation re Linux mentions xanim once and does not
make it at all clear whether this is for embedded or
externally referenced MOV files.

It should also be remembered that it is dead easy to
include a routine in a stack/standalone for Mac &/or Win
that can signal the end-user to install Quicktime - which
is comparatively straightforward. However, a Linux
stack/standalone containing a MOV file will not play
without xanim; but cannot signal the end-user to install
xanim: mind you, the average end-user (my local
Cash-and-Carry here in Bulgaria sells PCs with Linux
preinstalled !!!) is unlikely to get their non-specialised
head around installing xanim.

With the advent of Anaconda and other graphical installers
it is as easy to do a basic install with quite a few
distros as Win or Mac. It would be lovely if RR/MC
developers could offer that ease of use with their Linux
products.

sincerely, Richmond Mathewson
