What in the heck does this mean?

So after paying for a subscription, you get a free upgrade?! I think
you guys have had a little too much champagne...

Tell me if I am wrong:
I just paid for my license to MetaCard, and I am no longer entitled 
to engine upgrades. This is bad business in my book.
