Search Engine for files, folders -- recursive

Has anyone already written a "search engine"  in MC that prompts the user to
select a volume or folder and a keyword (s) then searches "down" for the
keyword (s) and returns a list with the file paths for all hits? I am
thinking MC has to be faster than either Sherlock or BBEdit multi-file
search (the latter being very slow)

I can write all the interface part of it, but the recursive search "down" is
the tricky part.
