Richard,
FWIW, I'm not sure how cross-platform it is but I've written a DLL for the
Win32 platform that I use to communicate between my MC app and other Win32
non-MC apps via "named pipes". It seems to work really well for us. I
think there might be a similar mechanism on Unix/Linux.
