Mac OS8 to OS9

Yes, you can create on OS8 and compile as a standalone that will work 
on OS9 and OSX.  You simply download the engines (the actual Metacard 
program for the OS you wish to create for), and when you save as a 
standalone, choose that engine.  The standard PPC engine that you are 
using should also work on OS9.  And you'll have to have the OSX 
engine to compile for OSX.  There are a lot of quirks to creating in 
OS8 and compiling for OSX, but it is doable.
