Comparing Versions of Stacks

Does anybody know of a way to compare MetaCard stacks (not apps, just
stacks) on my local hard disk with similar stacks named the same names on an
ftp site to see which one is the more recent version?  The only way I know
to do this is to compare the size of the two files which comes up as the
second item when I get the detailed files of each stack.  This seems like
kind of a funky way to do it.
