MetaCard did have a problem where if it ran for an extended period of time
(roughly a day or more depending on the machine) the time it reported would
drift away from the time reported by the computer. I discovered this
problem when I first started developing this very same application. Scott
fixed this by having MetaCard sync up with the computer whenever you request
the time. I never saw this fix mentioned in the release notes.

If I poll every 30 seconds (start poll, end poll, wait 30 seconds, start
poll, end poll etc.) then it will take 33 seconds to poll everything when I
first start the software, 3 hours later it will take 43 seconds, and by the
next day it will take 1.5 to 2.5 minutes. If I have only a 1 second pause
between polling intervals, it will be up to 43 seconds after an hour.
