Turn off drag-n-drop text?

I should have explained the context:  I need to allow text to be selectable,
with the ability to copy but not alter it in any way.  This is a read-only
text viewer.

I can trap keyboard events easily enough to stop those, but that still
leaves the mystery of disabling drag-n-drop....
